2)make sure you dont wear skimpy cloth except on beach.this is the most populated muslim country in the world even they not practice them as much as other muslim nations like middle east and suprisingly malaysian muslims which regarded by many as moderate muslim country i think practice islam much more than their indonesian counterpart.when i said skimpy that means sexy clothes for girls.its so ok to wear shorts at any part of indonesia
3)use budget airlines to explore the vast region.Unless you have a lot of time to spare u better travel by air to see as much place as possible in the shortest time which from my opinion still will take at least 3 weeks.go to mandalaair.com,airasia or batavia-air.co.id to get the best domestic deals and these airlines also cover big part of indonesia.the tickets is so cheap i even get return tickets from denpasar to bali for only Rp445000 including the taxes and charges which only cost about usd47 and one way tickets from padang in sumatra to jakarta for only rp200000 which only usd21.for the big spenders the airlines in this country also offer a very good deals,the bussiness class ticket by garuda airlines which is the national airline carrier is only ranging betweenRp 1 million -Rp2 million for one way journey.pay more and get yourself some rest at executive lounge, rubs shoulder with indonesian elite and better flight menus and services.(i never fly on business class category except in indonesia and thailand.
4)get as much information before hand.the country is so vast and the location is not really organised so u may stuck at somewhere or waste time taking unnecessary journey.
5)take train rides on java island.trains in java is the easiest way if u just want to get around java and its faster than road transportation.When i said just to get around java its actually to get around a region with 125 million peoples which include some big cities like jakarta,surabaya and jogjakarta.Its cheap and u can get to know a lot of friends.there are economy,business and executive class cabin.better stick with executive one coz its still so cheap.exp the 3 hours ride from jakarta to bandung on exc class is only cost usd10.
6)try to get an indonesian girlfriend or boyfriend.u can get a well hearted soul mate here coz they not happen to meet a lot of foreigner like singapore,malaysia,thailand and others so thats mean they lack of skill to prey on foreigners.if u want the easy way i will recommened
going to thailand and joins many farangs with their paid girlfriends
7)forget about travellers cheqeu.at many other country t.c is the most convenient mode of money to bring but indonesia money changers suprisingly offer poor rates compare with banknote and u not going to find many place where u can change it except at tourist spot like bali and jogja.imagine u in big cities like jakarta or medan but hardly find a place to convert it into cash,its terrible.Only bring t.c for emergency purpose not as your main source of funds.just stick with cash and cards.
